Introduction to the Design Tips
On these pages we offer a collection of design tips, organized broadly by subject, as a supplement to the main content of the book. These tips offer our solutions to common problems, or our advice about ways of doing common Web design tasks. They come from our own design experience or in answer to queries we have received by email or when teaching. Please remember that these are just tips; they should not be taken as rules, and we are not infallible. Some things change over time (issues that are browser-dependent, for example), and some things can be done in more ways than one.
We will update this collection of design tips whenever we have something new to add. If you have a query about a common Web design problem which is not answered here, please send your query to us and we will consider including an answer to it in these pages.
We apologize for the excessive length of some of these pages. Owing to demand, we have had to put this material up quickly rather than delay until we had time to implement a more usable and accessible means of presentation. However, this is only a temporary situation, and we will improve it when we can. If you are experiencing particular accessibility problems we would be grateful if you would let us know.
