Who can get an evaluation copy and how?

Evaluation copies are only provided by the publishers to lecturers or instructors who are teaching or planning a course for which the book may be an appropriate text. If you belong to this category, the simplest way to request an evaluation copy is by filling in the evaluation copy request form provided on this site. We ask you for a small amount of information which is required by John Wiley's marketing department. Your request will be sent to an appropriate person at the publisher; they usually deal with requests promptly. In cases of doubt, they may contact you to verify your status as an instructor.

When will the evaluation copy I requested through the form on your site reach me?

The times given below are estimates, but in most cases your evaluation copy should arrive within the specified time scale. If you have still not received your copy of the book after the time specified below, please contact us and we will chase it up for you.

All material for instructors and students can be found by clicking on Resources in the top level navbar, and then Teaching and Learning on the second level navbar that appears.

Can students download these supplementary materials?

Yes, certainly.

I am an instructor. Can I incorporate the illustrations from Web Design into printed handouts?

You can reproduce the illustrations for teaching purposes, but we do not provide separate image files. You will have to extract the images from the lecture slides. Please do not use the images for anything other than teaching purposes.

The embedded versions of the lecture slides don't seem to work. What might be wrong?

Make sure you have version 8 or higher of the Flash Player plug-in or ActiveX control installed. In IE for Windows, you now have to click on embedded content to activate it before you can play it, or in this case, use the player controls.

How can I edit the lecture slides?

It depends which format you use them in. The PPT slides can be opened in PowerPoint or Impress (the presentation component of the OpenOffice suite), where you can delete or add slides, add your notes and even insert transitions, in the usual way. You will not be able to edit the text of our slides, though, because the content of each slide is actually a PDF file that has been pasted in. We are sorry, but we do not have the time or resources to re-key all the text on the slides to produce a fully editable PPT version. If you prefer to use the PDF slides (which we recommend), you will be able to do minor textual edits if you have a copy of the full Acrobat application. Alternatively, a utility such as PDFLab can be used to delete pages, or insert pages of your own which you have prepared in some other program and exported as PDF.
