About the Web Design Book Blog

This section of the site takes the form of a blog, which we will use to tell you about developments that will be of interest to readers of Web Design: A Complete Introduction and instructors teaching courses based on it.

If you wish to bookmark any entry, or link to it from your own blog, the underlined heading for each entry also serves as its permalink.

For the most part, we will only be posting short entries with links to Web pages with news about such topics as standardization, accessibility, markup languages, scripting, usability, visual design, and so on. We may post occasional essays of our own, but the blog is not intended as a soap box. (And we won't post entries about our daily lives, anxieties, political opinions, recipes or the weather.) At present, we have no preconceptions about how often we will post to the blog, but it is unlikely to be as often as once a day. There are RSS and Atom feeds, if you want to keep track of the blog that way.

We have not enabled comments and trackbacks, which may upset blogging enthusiasts, but we felt that the potential hassles of dealing with comment spam and trolling outweighed the possible benefits of allowing general participation at this time. You are welcome to use the feedback form to send us your comments on blog entries.

Technology

For those who care to know, the blog is powered by Textpattern, which we chose because of the relative ease with which it could be integrated with the rest of the site, and the clean code that it generates. Having said that, we have cheerfully hacked it about, so it is possible that there may be some hiccups in this part of the site as we start to post more entries and the blog settles in. We are confident that everything will be running smoothly soon.
